For the second week in a row, racing occurred at Mississippi Thunder Speedway ... that was a big feat this season. What had started out as an unfavorable forecast turned into a very favorable night at the speedway for some but much less than desirable for many.

After harsh spring weather delayed last week’s long-anticipated 2010 season opener, American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series action returned to the historic Southern Iowa Speedway Wednesday evening. Comfortable weather and prime track conditions greeted the anxious fans and eager competitors at the half-mile Mahaska County Monster, and the on-track action proved to be worth the wait.

Gerod Olivier raced uncontested to the checkers in the USRA Sprint Car main event Sunday night at the Huset’s Speedway. Nick VanBelle topped the USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods and Chad Kuhnert scored the win in USRA Hobby Stock action.
