USRA RHS Modifieds back in action Saturday at Springfield


SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- After a very successful racing program last Saturday night presented by Green Lawn Funeral Homes, the action of the quick quarter-mile of the Springfield Raceway will gear up again this Saturday, June 18, including kids bike races at intermission.

The high horsepower of the USRA RHS Modifieds will be back in action this week along with the outstanding action in five other classes as they tackle the high-banked dirt oval.

Going into this Saturday's event, four-time track champion Jackie Dalton of Carthage leads Webb City's Terry Beckham II in the point standings with defending champion Mitch Keeter, Branson hotshoe Jody Tillman and Springfield hard charger Erik Maggard following in the rankings.

This is the fifth points show for the USRA RHS Modifieds and Dalton has three wins (all last-lap passes) while New Mexico traveler Johnny Scott and Oronogo's Bobby Pearish have also recorded wins while several good runs have been turned in by Keeter, Brian Green, Jerry Lankton and Robbie Bryant among others.

Kids will get to compete in bike races at intermission and experience their chance on the quarter-mile clay oval.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. with thegrandstand gates opening at 5. Hot laps will start at 6:15 and racing action kicks off at 7 p.m.
