The Southern Iowa Speedway closed the curtain on the 2008 racing season Saturday night with the finale of the 22nd Annual MUSCO Lighting Fall Challenge. More than 200 drivers in four classes competed in the event over the two days, with a capacity crowd on hand Saturday night to witness some incredible racing action on the Mahaska County Half-Mile Monster.

2005 Midway Speedway track champion Jamie Ragland continued his strong hold on the USRA Modifieds as Ragland started on the pole and survived some early challanges to capture his seventh USRA Modified feature win and his fourth consecutive victory at the Action Track of The Ozarks.
e chase to claim the 2008 track championship at the Midway Speedway in Lebanon, Mo. will end this Friday night, Sept. 12 with the Season Championships on the line. The USRA Modified crown will go to the wire as three drivers are battling hard.
This Saturday, Sept. 13, Huset's Speedway will host it's annual Patriot Day and Season Championship special event. Season Championships will be decided in all four Premier Racing Series divisions: USRA Outlaw Sprints, USRA Championship Sprints, USRA Karl Chevrolet B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks.
The Turkey Day Shoot Out will feature a $15,000 total purse, with USRA Modifieds racing for a top prize of $1,000. USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars will battle for $750 to win, while USRA Karl Chevrolet B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks will race for $500 to win.
The regular weekly competition at Decorah’s Upper Iowa Speedway is history, with only next week’s Season Championships remaining before the track goes silent for the remainder of fall and winter. Other than some problems with weather early on, it has been a fantastic year of racing, with each of the classes providing some of the best racing available anywhere.
Jacob Dahle of Morristown, Minn. got to the front on the drop of the green and than hugged the bottom of a dry slick track to hold off all challengers for his second feature win of the season.

After taking a week off, the Midway Speedway will swing back into action this weekend with a regular points show featuring USRA Modifieds, Factory Stocks, B-Mods, SuperStocks and Bombers.

On Sertoma Charities Night, Jody Rosenboom scored his 11th USRA Championship Sprint win of the season, while Nick VanBelle recorded his first ever Huset's Speedway win in the USRA Karl Chevrolet B-Mods. Craig Hanisch recorded win number six on the season in USRA Hobby Stock action.
