The much-awaited season opener at the Springfield Raceway fell to Mother Nature Saturday night as a mid-afternoon rain storm moved through the area. The opener will now be Saturday night, April 25, featuring the popular USRA Modifieds.
The quick quarter-mile dirt oval of the Springfield Raceway is gearing up for the opening race of the 2009 season on April 18. Pit gates will open at 2 p.m. with the grandstands opening at 4. Hot laps will start at 5:15 with racing to start at a special 6 p.m. starting time.
