Jackson and Fennewald Kick Off 2026 Iron Man Wins at King of America

Johnny Fennewald won the Iron Man USRA Stock Car main event.
WHEATLAND, Mo. (March 26, 2026)—The 2026 USRA Iron Man Series roared to life Thursday night at Lucas Oil Speedway as Kris Jackson and Johnny Fennewald captured opening night victories during the 15th Annual King of America.
Fennewald Scores First Iron Man Stock Car Victory: In USRA Iron Man Stock Car action, Johnny Fennewald broke through for his first career Iron Man victory in impressive fashion.
William Garner jumped to the early lead from the outside pole and paced the opening three laps before Fennewald, who started third, made his move to the front. Once out front, Fennewald was in complete control, leading the remainder of the caution-free 20-lap feature.
Fennewald crossed the line 1.482 seconds ahead of Garner, who settled for second after keeping pace most of the race.
Shayne Bailey finished third, Mason Martin fourth, and Jeffrey Abbey delivered a hard-charging performance from 16th to complete the top five.
A strong field of 49 USRA Iron Man Stock Cars competed on opening night, setting the tone for what looks to be a highly competitive 2026 season.
Jackson tops tough Iron Man Field: Kris Jackson of Lebanon, Missouri picked up right where he left off from 2025, leading all 20 laps to claim the USRA Iron Man B-Mod feature win against a stout 61-car field.
Starting outside the front row alongside Jon Sheets, Jackson powered to the lead on lap one and never looked back. Sheets and Tim Karrick kept the pressure on throughout the race, but Jackson stayed smooth and consistent out front.
Following the race’s only caution on lap 11, Karrick surged into second and challenged for the lead, even drawing alongside Jackson briefly. Sheets battled back into second on lap 14 and mounted a late charge, but Jackson remained in control to secure the victory.
Sheets finished second, Karrick third, while New Mexico driver Josh Cain made one of the biggest moves of the night charging from 14th to fourth. Dawson David rounded out the top five.
The depth of the field was evident, with many Lucas Oil Speedway regulars showing strength against a large and competitive national lineup.
Looking Ahead: With strong car counts and competitive racing in both divisions, the Iron Man Series kicked off 2026 in a big way at one of the sport’s biggest stages.
Racing continues tonight at Lucas Oil Speedway with another pair of $1,000-to-win main events for both the USRA Iron Man B-Mods and Stock Cars.
Fans unable to attend can catch every lap live on RacinDirt.com.
