The first day of June was welcomed at the Kasson Speedway in Kasson, Minn. with bright sunny skies and 73 race cars filling the pit area on KOWZ 100.9 FM Night.
Justin Henderson raced past Jake Peters at the halfway point and went on to claim his first USRA Outlaw Sprint feature win of 2008 at Huset's Speedway Sunday night. Jody Rosemboom continued his dominance by winning his fourth USRA Championship Sprint feature of the season while Kevin Joachin notched his first win in USRA B-Mod action and Tommy Barber scored his second USRA Hobby Stock win.
On a great night for racing at the Eldon Raceway with sunshine and no rain, the racing action was exciting and the night was sponsored by Winger Company of Ottumwa with all five classes in action.
A quarter-inch of rain fell on the Deer Creek Speedway at 4:30 p.m., delaying the racing activity by two hours on Saturday. Most of the drivers and crowd hung around and saw great racing action all night long.
The special Saturday night, May 31, events were lost due to torrid rains just after the first heat hit the track. The event will not be rescheduled at this time.

Despite threating skies, 109 race teams checked into the pits Friday night at the Midway Speedway. In USRA Modified action, 2006 champion Tony Jackson Jr. and Danny Atkinson brought the field down to the green with Jackson grabbing the early lead, but Rex Merritt took over the lead as the pack headed into turn 1.
Friday night at the Humboldt Speedway, USRA Modified feature action saw Justin "Whitey" Folk claim his third feature in a row. This trip, Folk smoked everybody, including runner-up Johnny Bone Jr. At the flag, Jess Folk Jr. squeezed past Scott Daniels for third.
Chateau Raceway missed out on another night of action Friday night. Mother Nature has gotten the best of the racing season so far with more rain-outs than racing through the first two months of the season, and it looked like she added another notch in her belt this week.
Races for Friday, May 30 at the Cresco Speedway have been rained out. Action at the Howard County Fairgrounds speedplant will continue next Friday, June 6 with the USRA Casey’s General Stores Weekly Racing Series featuring USRA Modifieds, USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars, USRA Karl Chevrolet B-Mods, USRA Hobby Stocks and Outlaw Hobbys.
Project Crate Engine Stock Car is officially in full operation. Last Wednesday night, May 21, Mike VanGenderen of Newton, Iowa, debuted his new USRA Stock Car at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa. There was another twist to the debut: VanGenderen’s Stock Car was the first to compete with the GM Performance Parts 604 Crate Engine.
