Seventeen dates at eleven dirt ovals comprise the 2011 schedule for the second season of the Iron Man Challenge for USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars and USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods.

The 6th Annual Hawkeye Summer Classic slated for Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the Highway 3 Raceway in Allison, Iowa, has been canceled due to rain.

e Dart Iron Man Challenge will have it’s first champion this Tuesday night as the inaugural season for the full-fendered USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars wraps up the 2010 season right back where it started.

A heavy late-afternoon rain shower wiped out any hope of the Dart Iron Man Challenge happening at the Highway 3 Raceway Thursday night. Wednesday's rained-out event at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa has been rescheduled for Monday, Sept. 20, and the race at Allison is set for Tuesday, Sept. 21.

The full-fendered USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars invaded the Highway 3 Raceway Thursday for Round 2 of the Dart Iron Man Challenge. Against a stout field of veteran stock car pilots, Mike Van Genderen looked like a super hero with a thrilling drive from last on the first lap of the main event to hoisting the winner’s trophy 19 laps later.

The “Dart Iron Man Challenge” will make its debut on Wednesday, May 26, at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa. The next night (Thursday, May 27), the newly-formed series for the full-fendered USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars invades the Highway 3 Raceway in Allison, Iowa.

The first race of the season at the Highway 3 Raceway in Allison, Iowa the Dart Iron Man Challenge for USRA Stock Cars, plus USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks accompanying the USMTS Modifieds.

In what may be a first in organized racing, three of the four drivers that captured the USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series titles in 2007 repeated the feat in 2008. Brad Waits captured his second straight USRA Modified crown, while the same can be said for Tom Schmitt (USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars) and Matt Jones (USRA Karl Chevrolet B-Mods). Jason McDaniel (USRA Hobby Stocks) won his first title after finishing second last year.

Officials from the Highway 3 Raceway in Allison, Iowa, have announced some additional appearances by USRA-sanctioned classes at the half-mile speedplant. USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars have been added to the schedule on June 11 and Aug. 28. In addition, USRA Modifieds will join the program on June 24 during the Butler County Fair.

When the USMTS Modifieds and USRA Casey's General Stores Weekly Racing Series travels into Northern Iowa next week, race fans will not only have the opportunity to witness some of the best Modified racers in America, they'll also be helping out families that were devastated by a tornado on May 25 that left eight people dead and destroyed more than 200 houses and damaged hundreds of others.
