USRA Northern Lights Modified Series announces 2026 schedule

ROCHESTER, Minn. (March 14, 2026)—The KEVKO Racing USRA Northern Lights Modified Series presented by Real Racing Wheels is proud to announce its 2026 racing schedule, marking the highly anticipated second season of competition for the rapidly growing regional tour.

While the scheduling process presented unique challenges this offseason, series officials emphasized the strong cooperation across the racing community.

“This year’s scheduling environment in the Northern region was tougher than expected,” said Series Director Erick Chesterman. “We want to thank all of our tracks, racers, and marketing partners not only for their patience, but also for their diligence in working with us to build a great schedule for year two of the series.”

The 2026 campaign opens with an exciting early-season doubleheader weekend on Friday, April 3, at the Fairmont Raceway in Fairmont, Minn., for the traditional Frostbuster, followed by the Icebreaker at the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, Iowa on Saturday, April 4.

One of the premier highlights of the early season will be a second trip to the Dairyland Showdown at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis. The three-night swing, scheduled April 30 through May 2, will once again take place alongside the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, providing Northern Lights competitors the opportunity to race in front of one of the sport’s largest crowds of the year.

Following the Dairyland Showdown, the tour continues its Upper Midwest swing with a strong lineup of new and returning venues, including stops at:

  • I-94 EMR Speedway – Fergus Falls, Minnesota (May 29)
  • Viking Speedway – Alexandria, Minnesota (May 30)
  • Chateau Speedway – Lansing, Minnesota (June 19)
  • Mason City Motor Speedway – Mason City, Iowa (July 12)
  • Winneshiek Raceway – Decorah, Iowa (July 14)
  • Fairmont Raceway – Fairmont, Minnesota (August 14)

The season will once again build toward the championship-deciding North Star Nationals at Mississippi Thunder, scheduled for September 11-12. The marquee event will serve as the finale for the 2026 championship battle and is expected to draw top USRA Modified competitors from across the region.

Three events on the calendar are currently listed as “To Be Announced,” leaving the door open for additional venues to join the schedule. Series officials also noted that additional races may still be added as opportunities arise.

Tracks interested in hosting the USRA Northern Lights Modified Series are encouraged to contact the series directly.
