Well known and respected auto racing promoter Kevin Rogers has taken on a new challenge for 2023, accepting the position of General Manager at the famed Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian, La.

Rogers, 44, of Rockwall, Texas, has been involved in racing for decades in a number of promotional roles, most recently as co-promoter of Rocket Raceway Park in Petty, Texas, with partner Kevin Sustaire. Rogers will no longer be part of the team at Rocket, yet it was an amicable parting for both.

“I was a little caught off guard when track owner Donnie Powers first called me,” Rogers explained. “My first response was; 'No thank you, I'm going to stay where I'm at.' Yet it was really too good of a deal not to look at a little closer. So I sat down with Kevin, and we discussed our options.

The Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series is a regular fixture at both the Rocket Raceway Park and Ark-La-Tex Speedway. the USRA Amerian Racer Modified Series will be at the Ark-La-Texas Speedway this Friday, Sept. 30, followed by a stop at the Super Bee Speedway in Chatham, La., on Saturday night. Both events will pay $2,000 to win the USRA Modified main event.

The series finale is set for Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4-5, at the Rocket Raceway Park. The inaugural ARMS Nationals will dole out $2,000 to Friday's winner and $3,000 on Saturday, along with the crowning of the 2022 series champion.

Summit USRA Nationals nears: The 9th Annual Summit USRA Nationals happens Monday through Saturday, Oct. 3-8, at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.

The biggest event on dirt will kick off with an open practice on Monday, and then racing will take place every night from Tuesday through Saturday. All eight USRA-sanctioned classes will participate at one time or another during the six-day event.

The Summit Shootout also returns this year and will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and feature USRA track champions and Summit Shootout qualifying race winners to compete in this one-of-a-kind blockbuster battle royale for Modified, Stock Car, B-Mod and Hobby Stock competitors.
