Michael Johnson won the USRA B-Mod main event.

Mother Nature provided perfect weather for Friday night's racing action at the Chateau Speedway powered by Garlick’s Water, and the drivers took it from there as the field put on a good show for the fans in attendance.

This week's action was sponsored by Countryside Auto and Duffy’s BP, both of Austin.

The track started a six-week promotion with Team Ellie. Each week a random class will have $300 added to the feature winner's check and there will be another random drawing for two more positions in that feature for an extra $100.

This week's class, drawn by a fan, was the Double M Transport USRA B-Mods and it was points leader Michael Johnson of Dexter who claimed the extra cash after taking his fourth feature win of the season. Johnson came from row five for the win.

The drawing for the other bonus checks went to fourth- and fifth-place finishers Kevin Johnson of Rose Creek and Hunter Kennedy of St. Ansgar, Iowa. Heat wins went to Kevin Johnson, Kennedy and Zach Elward of Hayfield.

Skjeveland Sanitation Medieval USRA Stock Cars saw a first-time winner as Andrew Eischens of Taopi used a front row starting spot to his advantage to lead flag-to-flag for the win.

Heat wins went to Chris Adams of McIntire, Iowa, and Travis Shipman of Mason City, Iowa.

The front row was the place to start from in the French's Repair USRA Modified feature. Ryan Wetzstein of West Conocrd led flag-to-flag from the outside of the front row.

Kylie Kath of Claremont and Jason Cummins of New Richland had top honors in the heats. Cummins put on a nice show in the main event as he came from row five to finish second behind Wetzstein.

Racing action ramps up again next Friday, Aug. 5, with all six classes back in action. The first green flag flies at 7:15 p.m.
