Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track to be resurfaced, reconfigured

Officials at XR and the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track have announced plans to resurface and reshape the track before racing begins in 2022.

The entities have mutually agreed on these efforts to create the most exciting and competitive racing possible and will be in the best interest of competitors and spectators alike.

“We will make a significant investment to add new dirt and rework the track to offer a much-improved racing experience for the competitors and fans moving forward,” said XR Events CEO Barry Braun. “This is not a decision we take lightly. This is the premier dirt racing venue in Texas, and we’re making this investment to ensure the racing lives up to this great facility.”

The new track surface project will be a joint effort and investment between XR Events and Texas Motor Speedway.

The scheduled season kickoff at the Texas Weekend Series on April 24-25 has been postponed to a date to be named later.

Based on the project’s progress, there is a tentative goal to begin the season June 26-27 with USRA Modifieds and Sunoco USRA Factory Stocks on the card.

Updates about track progress will be posted on XR’s social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
