Dycus scores big ARMS win at Ark-La-Tex Speedway

USRA Modified veteran Triston Dycus scored a big feature win Friday as the American Racer Modified Series powered by Day Motor Sports headlined the card Friday night at Ark-La-Tex Speedway.

Dycus, of Maypearl, Texas, started second on the 23-car grid and powered around the outside of polesitter Jade Luzenberg coming off turn 2 on the opening lap.

Kyle Beard started third, applied pressure to Dycus late before settling for second while Michael Walker was third.

Chris Henigan and Kenny Gaddis finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Dycus led all 30 laps in a high-speed display of driving by the USRA Modified competitors.

“We had a strong car here tonight, it sure feels good to win at Ark-La-Tex,” Dycus said. “This was a strong field of cars, and I expect we'll have the same over at The Rev tomorrow night. This has been quite a season for us; now we'll move on to Monroe and try to gain more points towards that title.”

Finishing sixth through tenth in the USRA Modified main event were Jason Ingalls, Max Eddie Thomas, Chris Huckeba, Nathan Hagar and Colton Horner.

Two cautions slowed the pace, both for minor spins.

Beard was roughly three car lengths behind when Dycus crossed the stripe.

American Racer $100 draws at the drivers’ meeting went to Dycus, James McCreery and Thomas while TNT Auto Parts awarded $100 to hard-charging Horner who clawed his way from 22nd on the grid to 10th at the checkered flag.

Action continues Saturday, Aug. 28, at The Rev in Monroe, La.
