Sigg tunes up for big week with win at Humboldt
HUMBOLDT, Kan. - The next eight days at Humboldt Speedway are huge ... the biggest one week line up of events in the 40-year history of the track.
Things got off to a powerful start Friday, Aug. 1, with some fabulous racing action.
Modified thrills?
You bet!
A number of top drivers came to tune up for the big Monday night USMTS show, but the one man fast enough to beat them all was Rodney Sigg.
It wasn't easy, though.
Just past midway, Sigg got sideways in turn 3, nearly dumped the car and handed the lead to (you guessed it) Justin "Whitey" Folk.
Ever tenacious, Sigg battled back and regained the lead late in the race. Folk took second. Johnny Bone Jr. was third, John Allen fourth and Gary Langworthy Jr. was fifth.
Monday, Aug. 4, is, of course, the USMTS Night of the Stars featuring NASCAR drivers Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace, along with Factory Stocks and B-Mods in non-points events.
Friday, Aug. 8, is Kids Night at the Speedway sponsored by Twin Motors Ford of Iola. At half time, kids will have the chance to meet all the drivers and get autographs. Saturday, Aug. 9, the climax of the Allen County Fair will be the demolition derby held at Humboldt Speedway.
