Gemmill holds off Givens at Humboldt

HUMBOLDT, Kan. (Aug. 15, 2025)—Brendon Gemmill returned to victory lane with the USRA Heartland Modified Tour Friday night at Humboldt Speedway, leading all 30 laps of the main event to score his second career series triumph.

Gemmill, who also won with the tour last season at Salina Speedway, started on the front row and set the pace from the drop of the green. The G3 machine looked dominant, but the win was anything but easy as Brandon Givens applied heavy pressure during the middle stages of the race and again in the closing laps. Despite Givens’ best efforts, Gemmill held his line and powered to the checkers.

For Givens, the runner-up finish continues a strong 2025 campaign as he searches for his first USRA Heartland Modified Tour victory. He remains in the thick of the championship battle, sitting just 44 points out of the lead in third with seven races remaining.

Bobby Williams, who set quick time in qualifying earlier in the night, came home third, while Tyler Davis and Tad Davis rounded out the top five. Dean Wille was the night’s hard charger, advancing from 20th to finish seventh in the caution-filled feature that saw tempers run just as hot as the August temperatures.

Heat race victories went to Randal Schiffelbein Jr., Gemmill, Chase Sigg, and Givens, each of whom helped set the tone for the night’s action.

The tour now shifts to Nevada Speedway on Saturday for the second leg of the weekend doubleheader. With the championship battle heating up and momentum on the line, fans can expect another thrilling night of Heartland Modified Tour action.
