Chateau Raceway powered by Miner's Outdoor & Recreation, kicked off the Fourth of July Weekend with a bang Thursday night as it presented another full night of action with over 100 in the pits for the first time in a couple seasons, setting up a 23-race program.
After a week off because of flood waters, the Cedar River was back in its banks Friday night so the action at Chateau Raceway powered by Miners Outdoor Power & Recreation of Blooming Prairie was able to roll out just its fifth night of racing during this wet first half of the season.
Chalk another one up for Mother Nature as racing at the Chateau Raceway was the victim of all the recent rains and the flooding of the Cedar River, which runs just outside the back straight-away of the track.
Chateau Raceway missed out on another night of action Friday night. Mother Nature has gotten the best of the racing season so far with more rain-outs than racing through the first two months of the season, and it looked like she added another notch in her belt this week.

Chateau Raceway powered by Miners Outdoor & Recreation opened its 2008 season with a nice field of cars scattered over six classes of action Friday night. After five weeks of rain, snow and generally cold miserable weather wiped out the first month of racing, it was great to see the cars take to the one-third-mile oval and its fresh new layer of clay that was laid down last fall.
Chateau Raceway put the finishing touches on its 2007 racing season recently with its annual awards banquet. Trophies were handed out in all six classes to the top drivers at the event held at the Oaks Country Club in Hayfield in late November.
