Honeycutt ropes Cowboy Up Classic at Rocket Raceway Park
Kaden Honeycutt won the USRA Limited Mod main event.
The 2nd Annual Cowboy Up Classic presented by Coston & Son Ready Mix provided a start-to-finish barn-burner Saturday night at the Rocket Raceway Park.
With big money on the line, 49 USRA Limited Mod drivers signed in for battle but it was Kaden Honeycutt of Bridge City who stood tallest in the saddle when the checkered flag waved.
Long tow racer Jon Sheets of Nevada, Mo., finished second after starting sixth while Cody King of Fanshawe, Okla., grabbed the third spot from the inside of the fifth row. Kaufman’s Cody Smith and national title contender Rowdy Day of Greenville rounded out the top five.
Jeffery Abbey of Comanche took home the Medieval USRA Stock Car feature win. Bryce Pritchett of Crandall passed 11 cars to earn runner-up money with David Whittle of Muskogee, Okla., handing on for third. Leslie Gill of Odessa claimed the fourth spot and Sherman’s Jeremy Henry was the fifth driver to cross the finish line.
In Sunoco USRA Factory Stock action, Marty Hicks of Powderly steered his machine into Ballistic Trailers Victory Lane while Pritchett settled for his second second-place finish of the evening.
Polesitter Chris Davis of Wills Point held on for third with Brian McHenry of Quinlan and Deaon Redmon of Paris collecting the fourth- and fifth-place paychecks.
Two big events remain: After a month of darkness silence, the lights of the Rocket Raceway Park go back on for the 7th Annual SmackDown on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21-22, before putting the wraps n the 2022 campaign with the USRA American Racer Modified Series (ARMS) Nationals on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4-5.
The Rocket Raceway Park holds 3,400 spectators and its elevated grandstands offer superb viewing from any seat. The venue can be found in Lamar County—about 15 minutes west of Paris and 25 minutes east of Bonham. The physical location is 16369 US-82, Petty, TX 75470.
