Fall Brawl gets bigger for USRA classes


The outlook for Midway Speedway's Fall Brawl is looming even larger for the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series classes this weekend at the Lebanon, Mo., clay oval.

Being held on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9-10, the event features USRA Modifieds on Saturday while Medieval USRA Stock Cars, USRA B Mods and USRA Tuners race both nights for big money.

The Fall Brawl presented by Jerry Gile Transportation of Pittsburg and Bud's Tire & Wheel of Springfield is a two-night event and Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national points will be awarded in all classes both nights.

The USRA B-Mods will compete on Friday, Sept. 9, with a $500-to-win, $75-to-start feature while Medieval USRA Stock Cars battle for a $400 top prize and USRA Tuners race for $125 to win and $35 to start.

Friday racing finds gates opening at 5 p.m., hot laps at 7 and racing at 8. Drivers draw ends at 7:25. Adult pit passes are $35 while adult grandstand admission is only $15.

For Saturday, several sponsors have stepped up to the plate as the USRA Modifieds will make an appearance competing for $1,500 to win with the runner-up pocketing $500. The third-place finisher gets $400, fourth is $250, fifth pays $225, sixth is $200 and seventh is $125 with all starters cashing no less than $100.

McCowan Farms in Urbana, Martin's 1-Stop Deli & Grocery in Lebanon and C & S Towing in Lebanon are additional sponsors making the USRA Modified show happen.

Along with the USRA Modifieds on Saturday night, USRA B-Mods will see $1,500 go to the winner while the runner-up takes home $500 and a minimum $150 goes out to each main event starter.

Lake Area Liquidators has added $200 to the eighth-place finisher and an extra $100 to seventh place in honor of former track owner Jack Jones who used No. 87 on his race car and in motocross. J2 Race Cars in Lebanon, Parrish Tire & Alignment in Bolivar and Martin's 1-Stop Deli & Grocery in Lebanon are all jumping in to make it all possible.

The Medieval USRA Stock Cars presented by Eagle Machine in Buffalo will also battle for $1,000 to win, $500 for second place and $100 to start. Black Widow Diesel & Performance will sponsor the Hard Charger Award of 100 to the driver who advances the most spots from scheduled starting spot to finish.

For the Tuners the payout is 1) 250 2) 150 3) 125 4) 100 5) 80 6) 75 7) 70 8) 65 9) 60 10 and back 35. Black Widow Diesel and Performance is the Tuner Sponsor for the evening.

Saturday gates open at 4, drivers meeting 6:15, hot laps to follow and racing at 7:30. Draw cutoff at 6:45.

USRA Tuners compete for $250 to win on Saturday with the runner-up pocketing $125 while third takes home $100 and $35 goes in the pocket of all starters.

On Saturday, the pits open at 4 p.m. with the drivers meeting at 6:15 and hot laps to follow. Racing gets underway at 7:30.

Action on Friday night includes full shows for Late Models, Midwest Mods, Super Stocks and Pure Stocks, and Saturday will also feature full shows for Midwest Mods, Super Stocks and Pure Stocks.

Summit USRA Nationals nears: The 9th Annual Summit USRA Nationals happens Monday through Saturday, Oct. 3-8, at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.

The biggest event on dirt will kick off with an open practice on Monday, and then racing will take place every night from Tuesday through Saturday. All eight USRA-sanctioned classes will participate at one time or another during the six-day event.

The Summit Shootout also returns this year and will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and feature USRA track champions and Summit Shootout qualifying race winners to compete in this one-of-a-kind blockbuster battle royale for Modified, Stock Car, B-Mod and Hobby Stock competitors.
