I-35 Speedway BBQ and racing this weekend
Double your fun at the I-35 Speedway this weekend for Seeburg Muffler Night, the Smokin' Trackside BBQ Bash and Summit USRA Weekly Racing—one night enjoying barbeque and one night enjoying racing.
The fragrant aroma will fill your nostrils with the tantalizing smell of barbeque on the smokers as the Kansas City Barbeque Society masters tackle the 7th Annual Smokin’ Trackside BBQ Contest.
Normally a racetrack will include the smell of spent racing fuel, but at I-35 Speedway once a year the aroma changes to one which makes you hungry, the smell of mouthwatering chicken, ribs, pork and brisket smoking. Barbeque and racing... How American is that?
Friday night the Smokin' Trackside BBQ Bash includes the People’s Choice Chicken Wing contest. The Trackside Bar & Grill will be open on Friday with food and drinks and the People’s Choice Chicken Wing contest.
For a nominal fee you get to try the wings and vote for your favorite chicken wing. Contestants smoke those chicken wings with their special blends of spices and rubs in competition to be the People’s Choice winner. The public is the judge for this event.
The Smokin’ Trackside BBQ Bash is a KCBS Missouri State Championship points event and a qualifying event for the American Royal World Series of Barbeque held at Kansas Speedway, Sept. 28 through Oct. 2.
Saturday morning the KCBS judges will arrive, and early afternoon the tasting (judging) begins. Every 30 minutes there will be a race by the barbeque teams to turn in their delicacies for influencing the judges taste buds. An awards ceremony will be held in the grandstands around 3 p.m.
Saturday night the action transfers from taste buds to racing action. USRA Modifieds, Medieval USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods will provide the fun, along with Sport Compacts, Pure Stocks, E-Mods and Limited Late Models.
The pit gates opens at 4 p.m. Saturday, grandstands open at 4:30, hot laps are at 6:20 and racing starts at 7. The grandstand entry is $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and 18 years and younger are free. Pit passes are $35.
I-35 Speedway is located at exit 64 off Interstate 35—ten miles north of Cameron, Mo. Super easy access. Parking is always free. Need more information check out our website I-35speedway.net or check us out on the MyRacePass app.
