Jake Gallardo beats dad to checkers at Vado Speedway Park

The state-of-the-art Vado Speedway Park in Vado, N.M., was back in action Saturday with another Hot City Nights event.

The final event of the night was the Rancho Milagro USRA Modifieds for their 25-lap finale with track record holder Tim Tharp on the pole for the second week in a row. But just as in previous weeks, it was the Gallardo show once again with eight-starting Jake Gallardo and seventh-starting Fito Gallardo quickly racing to the front of the field and battling out for the lead.

Jake Gallardo got to the lead first and was able to hold off his dad for yet another feature win after a DNF last Saturday night.

Fito Gallardo ran a close second with Jimmy Ray, Royal Jones and 19th-starting Nick Rivera rounding out the top five finishers when the final checkered flag of the night flew over the field.

The Vado Speedway Park will be back in action on Saturday, July 23, with the track’s first Meet the Drivers Night of the season where fans will be allowed to go onto the front stretch at intermission to meet and greet with their favorite racers. Gates open at 5 p.m. and racing begins at 7:30.

For fans not able to attend in person, all events held during the 2022 season at the Vado Speedway Park will also be live streamed online at WatchFYE.tv.
