Josh Ludeking won the USRA Hobby Stock main event.

Friday night at Fayette County Speedway in West Union, Iowa, was the place to be. With four USRA classes in action, including the Larry Barker Memorial $1,000-to-win Hobby Stock division, there was no shortage of excitement throughout the night.

The 30-lap USRA Hobby Stock feature was dominated by Decorah’s Josh Ludeking, who started on the pole and led every lap on his way to the big payday.

With just one caution that came on lap 4 of the feature, Ludeking was able to work his magic and win by a solid margin over runner-up Justin Lichty of Waterloo.

Third place went to Paul Seabrooke of Decorah, who got the feature win last week at FCS, while West Union’s Daryl Moss grabbed fourth and fifth went to Troy Hovey of Cresco. Hovey started 23rd and passed 18 cars in the race.

In the Medieval USRA Stock Car division, Waukon’s Brady Link worked his way around 11 cars in the 20-lap feature to pick up his second feature win in the past eight days (winner at Cresco Speedway on June 23).

He navigated his way through the pack and took over the lead from third-place finisher Dan Jones of Waukon.

Decorah’s Mitch Hovden finished second, while Kevin Donlan of Decorah was fourth. Brayden Gjere of Mabel, Minn. led the race early on, but slipped back to fifth place.

Decorah ace Dan Hovden captured his fifth feature win of the season in the USRA B-Mod division as he wasted little time working to the top spot from his third-place starting position.

Trevor Fecht of Allison led the first several circuits around the speedway, but brought home a runner-up finish. In third was Decorah’s Kyle Anderson, while Ben Moudry of Protivin finished fourth. Taking fifth was Alex Zwanziger of Walker.

In the USRA Tuner class, Elkader’s Josh Hills earned his first win of the season. He beat out Clayton Harms of Postville in second and hard charger Braiden Schaufenbuel of New Hampton in third.

Harms advanced seven positions in the race, while Schaufenbuel improved eight spots. In fourth was Brad Stahl of Castalia, while Cresco’s Ben Horsfall finished fifth.

The action will resume at Fayette County Speedway on Friday, July 8, for another evening of great racing.
