Tyler tops Tad in Davis duel at 81 Speedway

Tad Davis won the USRA Modified main event.

Tad Davis won the USRA Modified main event.

It was Kansas Honor Flight Night at 81 Speedway on Saturday, May 21, and in what has become a common theme during USRA Modified action during the first two months of 2022, Tyler Davis and Tad Davis once again fought each other for the win on Saturday night.

In what literally became a head-to-head battle with both drivers drawing front row starting spots, Tyler Davis grabbed the early lead at the drop of the green.

Tad Davis hunted for a way around the No. 65, finally taking over the lead on lap nine. Two laps later, Tyler Davis found another lane through the middle of the track to retake the lead.

Tyler Davis stretched his advantage to 2.5 seconds before a caution with three laps to go forced a reset.

On the restart, Tad Davis raced to the inside off turn 2.  Side-by-side heading back into turn 3, Tyler Davis dove hard into the corner to take the lead for good.

Tad Davis settled for second at the line with Brendon Gemmill, Cody Schniepp and Bryce schniepp completing the top five.

Kyler Kemp, Tyler Davis and Tad Davis each grabbed heat race wins.

81 Speedway takes Memorial Day Weekend off but racing returns Saturday, June 4, with the USRA B-Mods of the Titans B-Mod Series headlining the show.

USRA Modifieds, AutoTech Service Super Stocks, Primal Jerky Mini Stocks and Midwest Wrap Co. Mod Lites join them for weekly racing series action.
