Dylan Clinton won the USRA Hobby Stock main event.

It may have been a bit chilly Friday night in West Union, Iowa, but the action on the track was hotter than ever at Fayette County Speedway.

In a thrilling USRA B-Mod feature race, Postville’s Josh Roney advanced nine spots in the 20-lap main event to pick up his first win of the 2022 race season.

It was a tale of almost two different races as early on, a pair of Caledonia, Minnesota drivers went back and forth for the top spot. Taylor Skauge and Colby Mann took turns holding the top spot. Midway through the race, Mann was searching for an advantage on the extreme low groove when his bumper clipped the infield tractor tire and sent him spinning in between turns one and two.

The caution put an end to Mann’s night and also allowed the pack to tighten up, which set the stage for a new battle for the lead. When the green flag flew again, both Josh Roney and Dan Hovden were able to get around Skauge. With Roney holding the point, Hovden would make several attempts to get around him, but the driver of the 8X Rage Chassis would fend them off and take the checkered flag. With Hovden finishing runner-up and Skauge holding onto the third spot, Protivin’s Ben Moudry would claim fourth and Kyle Anderson would round out the top five.

In the Medieval USRA Stock Car feature race, Decorah’s Kyle Falck parked it in Victory Lane for the first time of the year as he held off last week’s winner Mitch Hovden for the win. Brayden Gjere, who started on the pole and led the first several laps of the race finished third, with Dan Jones taking fourth and Brayton Boyer taking fifth.

West Union’s Dylan Clinton made it two-for-two on the season in the USRA Hobby Stock class as he charged ahead seven spots in the feature to take the win. Not only did Clinto get his second straight win at Fayette County Speedway, but the top three finishers were also in the same spots that they were last week as Paul Seabrooke was second and Dru Kuker was third.

Weston Koop of Rockwell held the top spot early in the feature, but would go on to take fourth, while Waterloo’s Justin Lichty would finish in fifth.

In the USRA Tuner division, a Stahl would pull into Victory Lane for the second consecutive week. After Brad Stahl got the win last week, it was his wife, Katie, who earned the win Friday night. Stahl held off Timothy Hanson and Lukas Rick to get her first-ever win at the speedway and second career victory. In fourth was Levi Hansmeier, while Shawn Kraft rounded out the top five.

Racing will return to Fayette County Speedway next Friday as all four USRA classes will be back in action.
