Centerville Super Speedway inks sanctioning deal with USRA for 2022 season

The owners of the Centerville Super Speedway have recently signed an agreement to sanction with the United States Racing Association (USRA) for the 2022 season at the famed West-Central Arkansas oval.

The sanctioning agreement will include the USRA B-Mods on a weekly basis and special events monthly for USRA Tuners and Sunoco USRA Factory Stocks. All three classes will compete for points in the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series.

Track owner Wayne Tidwell had this to say: “We decided USRA was a good fit for our area because of the proximity to other sanctioned tracks and with more coming on board this year we feel this might help us grow the footprint in the area.”

The racetrack, founded in 1966 and entering its 56th year in operation, will undergo some general maintenance over the off-season as well. Tidwell confirmed a new catch fence, painting, new lighting and other general upgrades will be done at the first of the season and some may run into the earlier parts of the summer as well.

“Our plan is to have completed the new aluminum bleachers, press box and concessions with concrete pathways and new fencing by mid-season. This will hopefully make the fan experience better and upgrade the facility in a great way.”

Perhaps the biggest news coming from the track ownership is that one class every week will pay $1,000 to win and $50 to start every Friday night throughout the 2022 season. Arkansas Factory Stocks will be competing for $1,000 to win every first, third and fifth Friday of the month while the second and fourth Fridays will be rotated among the USRA B-Mods, Sunoco USRA Factory Stocks and USRA Tuners.

The weekly classes will include FWD Stingers, Lead Sleds, Sportsmans, Arkansas Factory Stocks and USRA B-Mods and the special rotation as mentioned above.

Make no mistake—if you are in the Pope, Johnson, Logan, Yell and/or Conway County areas you'll to be at Centerville Super Speedway on Friday nights starting Friday, March 18, for opening night. Gates will open at 6 p.m. with hot laps at 8 and racing at 8:30.

A full schedule and new website are being finalized and should be available soon. Make sure to follow the Centerville Super Speedway on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for updated information.
