USRA American Racer Modified Series racers eye doubleheader in Lubbock, Amarillo


The third round of the 2021 campaign for the USRA American Racer Modified Series presented by Day Motor Sports is set for a Lone Star State doubleheader this Friday, June 11, at the West Texas Raceway in Lubbock, followed by a date at the Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo on Saturday, June 12.

These blockbuster events will pay $2,000 to the main event winner each night with at least $200 going into the pockets of every driver qualifying for the feature race each night.

Following two runner-up finishes in the first two races, Max Eddie Thomas leads the ARMS standings by 12 markers over Tyler Davis. Chris Huckeba is third, followed by James McCreery, Sean Gaddis, Triston Dycus, Michael Walker, Kenny Gaddis, four-time USMTS national champ Rodney Sanders and ‘Big Daddy’ Joe Duvall.

Other touring outlaw racers announced for this weekend include Casey Fowler, Fito Gallardo, Jake Gallardo, Philip Houston, Kevin Rowland, Mark Smith, Nathan Smith, Kale Westover, Dustin Robinson, Ronnie Yanacsek, A.J. Vasquez and more.

Friday night at the West Texas Raceway, pits open at 4 p.m., grandstands open at 6, hot laps begin at 7:30 and racing gets underway at 8. Any competitors arriving early can get parked in the pits any time. Officials will call patrons to the pit gate around 4 to purchase pit bands.

Grandstand tickets are $15 or spectators can purchase a family pass for $40 and includes two (2) adults and two (2) kids over 5 years old. Kids ages 5 and under get into the grandstands and pits for free. Pit passes are $30. Nightly transponder rental is $10.

Support classes include USRA Limited Mods, Medieval USRA Stock Cars, Street Stocks and Junior Cyclones. Among the special activities include junior flagman and lucky child photo drawings plus fireworks for everybody.

Saturday night at the Route 66 Motor Speedway, pits open at 4:30 p.m., grandstands open at 5:30, hot laps begin at 6:45 and racing gets underway at 7.

Grandstand tickets are $15 for everybody 12 and older while seniors (65+) and members of the military are just $12. Kids ages 5 to 11 are $5 and children under 5 are free. Pit passes are $35.

Support classes include AA&A Windshields USRA Limited Mods, Limited Late Models, Air Compressor Solutions Street Stocks and USRA Tuners. Fans can also look forward to a huge fireworks show presented by Gossett Garage.

At every American Racer USRA Modified Series events, USRA Modified racers will compete for series points as well as Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national and regional points. Sanctioned racetracks may also award track points. At season’s end, the inaugural ARMS points champion will pocket no less than $4,000 of the nearly $20,000 points fund.

The minimum payout at each event is as follows: 1. $2000, 2. $1500, 3. $1000, 4. $800, 5. $700, 6. $600, 7. $500, 8. $450, 9. $400, 10. $350, 11. $300, 12. $275, 13. $250, 14. $240, 15. $230, 16. $225, 17. $220, 18. $215, 19. $210, 20. $205, all other starters $200, non-qualifiers $90. There is a $100 entry fee at each event.

At each event, officials will draw three random drivers’ names that will win a $100 cash bonus during the drivers meeting. To win this award you must attend the drivers meeting and have competed in the previous series event.

The points fund will award the following top 10 in the final points: 1. $4000, 2. $3000, 3. $2000, 4. $1700, 5. $1500, 6. $1300, 7. $1200, 8. $1100, 9. $1000, 10. $1000. Any driver racing in at least 80% of the events and failing to make top 10 will get a $500 points fund check. Dozens of contingency awards will also be doled out during race nights and at season’s end.

Two provisional starting spots will be awarded at each event to the two drivers ranked highest in series points that did not qualify for the main event. Each driver is eligible for two (2) provisionals.
