Hamilton County Speedway kicks off 2019 season April 20

The Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, Iowa, is gearing up for a full 24 hours of fun leading up to opening night on Saturday, April 20, with great anticipation for another record-breaking season in 2019 at the oldest speedway in the state of Iowa.

Saturday’s all-day celebration will kick off with a race car show at Tex Trail Trailer Parts located at 1700 West 2nd Street in Webster City from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Awards for Best in Show and People’s Choice will be named at the conclusion of the race car show. Hy-Vee will be there serving hamburgers and hot dogs so come out for some fun at Tex Trail Trailer Parts.

Afterwards, an Easter Egg Hunt will take place on the parking lawn just north of the Hamilton County Speedway ticket booth at 3:30 p.m. Eggs will be hidden all over the fairgrounds with several age groups so every kid will get a chance to get some eggs.

April 20 is also Kids Night presented by D&B Agro Systems—the first of many this year. There will be race car rides for the youngsters and a candy/coin dash on front stretch following the drivers meeting at 5:45 p.m. Bike races will take place at intermission. Kids who wish to participate need to bring their own bike. Two bikes (one boy and one girl) will be given away following the first feature race.

Kick off the party early on Friday night at an open practice at the track until 9:30 p.m. Gates will open at 5 and cars will begin circling the race track at 7 p.m. Plan on sticking around overnight for Saturday’s action? Visit the Super 8 and AmericInn on the south side of town. Both are a big reason we can construct the new catwalk at the track. If you are camping at the track, there are 32 spots available with electric hook-ups available and plenty of room for more.

Of course, it all revolves around the best Saturday night racing program in the area with six classes competing in the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series including the USRA Modifieds, American Racer USRA Stock Cars, Out-Pace USRA B-Mods, Cook Racing Supplies USRA Hobby Stocks and USRA Tuners.

The pit gate opens at 4 p.m. and spectator gates open at 5. The drivers meeting will take place at 5:45 followed by hot laps at 6 with racing getting underway at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are just $12 for adults or $8 for juniors (12-16). Families can save $8 with the Family Pack for two adults and two juniors for only $32. Kids ages 11 and under get in for free. Pit passes are $30 those ages 11 and older, $20 for youth (6-10) and free for kids 5 and under.

Opening in July 1910, the Hamilton County Speedway is the oldest speedway in the state of Iowa. In 1938, work began on the current location at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds. The semi-banked half-mile dirt track was completed in the spring of 1939, and the first races were held on the track in September of that year.
