Hibner, Mercer, Eaton gather Generational Buildings Night honors at I-35 Speedway
Chris Mercer won the Medieval USRA Stock Car main event.
A field of 113 cars checked in for Generational Buildings Night at I-35 Speedway on Saturday. The track was in great shape with multiple lanes as fans were treated to three- and four-wide racing.
Tim Eaton picked up his first USRA B-Mod feature win this season at I-35 Speedway. Around the 10-lap mark, Eaton finally found a line to get around leader Daniel Harris.
Harris came home second while Jace Whitt battled for the lead early but wound up with a close third.
Corey Myers, doing double duty for the first time this season, took fourth, and Jamie Aleshire finally had some luck go his way and got a top-five finish.
The race of the night went to the Medieval USRA Stock Cars as Nic Hanes grabbed the lead from the drop of the green flag. As Hanes led, the battle was shaping up behind him where Chris Mercer and Jeff Dixon eventually worked their way around Hanes.
Mercer and Dixon swapped the lead back and forth on the final three laps, and coming out of turn for on the final lap Mercer beat Dixon to the line by 0.074 second.
Hanes finished third. points leader Tommy Ground battled hard all race long to finish fourth and Darrin Schmidt finished fifth in his first Medieval USRA Stock Car feature at I-35 Speedway.
Tyler Hibner picked up his second feature win in the USRA Modifieds as he had to maneuver around lapped traffic, with last week’s feature winner and current points leader Houston Johnson right on his back bumper.
Johnson finished second, followed by Lee Hibner, Tyler Grooms and newcomer Cole Ferguson.
Congratulations to David Reil, winner of Fan of the Week sponsored by Austin Johnson Racing and Dixon Racing.
Join us next week for CSI Overhead Door Night as we celebrate a legend and champion of I-35 Speedway with the Cletus ‘Mudcat’ Murray Memorial.
