Johnson, Keller, Turner score Sunday wins at I-35 Speedway

Houston Johnson won the USRA Modified main event.

Houston Johnson won the USRA Modified main event.

Mother Nature tried to ruin the weekend plans for drivers, fans and track personnel but a quick change in plans to race Sunday afternoon at the I-35 Speedway flipped the script on her plans as 108 cars checked in for Casey’s/Bonnet Trailer Sales Night.

In USRA B-Mod action, Shadren Turner picked up his second feature win in a row as he parked it in McCarthy Auto Group Victory Lane.

Daniel Harris was right on his back bumper coming to the checkers but finished second.

Corey Myers ran in the top three all race long and finished third while Jeff Stotts, in his first race this season, finished fourth, followed by Darrion McLaughlin in fifth.

Doug Keller three-wheeled his way to a feature win in the Medieval USRA Stock Cars as he picked up his first feature win of the season at I-35 Speedway.

Last week’s feature winner Tommy Ground gave a good challenge to Keller a few times but finished a close second at the line. Jeff Dixon came out of nowhere to finish third.

In his first race of the season, Kristchon Hisel finished fourth, and Gerald Wahwahsuck rebounded from an earlier mishap to finish fifth.

In the USRA Modifieds, Houston Johnson picked up the win.

USMTS regular Chase Holland of Success, Miss., was passing through after spotting the exit for I-35 Speedway, made a quick U-turn and pulled in for the first time to take home second.

Chris Spalding, Tyler Grooms and Tyler Hibner battled it out for a majority of the race finishing third, fourth and fifth.

Congratulations to Fan of the Week winner Angel Viles. The award is sponsored by Shadren Turner Racing, Reed & Anderson Racing, Mike Miller Racing and JDB Racing Videography & Design.

Join us next week for Generational Buildings Night at I-35 Speedway.
