A very nice day in Southern Minnesota brought out a very nice field of cars and a good crowd of spectators as Deer Creek Speedway opened up its 2009 racing season on Saturday, April 11.
Brad Waits of Zumbrota, who has won the American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series National Championship for USRA Modifieds the past two years, got a good start on trying to make it three in a row as he posted the feature win Friday night at the Chateau Raceway in Lansing, Minn.
Racing begins this Saturday, April 11, at the Caney Valley Speedway with action in six classes. Headlining the program will be USRA Modifieds as they will be battling for track and national points in the American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series and a $1,000 top prize.
The quick quarter-mile dirt oval of the Springfield Raceway is gearing up for the opening race of the 2009 season on April 18. Pit gates will open at 2 p.m. with the grandstands opening at 4. Hot laps will start at 5:15 with racing to start at a special 6 p.m. starting time.
