Waits opens title defense with win at Chateau Raceway

Brad Waits of Zumbrota, who has won the American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series National Championship for USRA Modifieds the past two years, got a good start on trying to make it three in a row as he posted the feature win Friday night at the Chateau Raceway in Lansing, Minn.

Springfield Raceway gears up for season opener April 18

The quick quarter-mile dirt oval of the Springfield Raceway is gearing up for the opening race of the 2009 season on April 18. Pit gates will open at 2 p.m. with the grandstands opening at 4. Hot laps will start at 5:15 with racing to start at a special 6 p.m. starting time.
Midway Speedway set for test ’n’ tune sessions under the lights

In preparing for the upcoming 2009 season opener, the Midway Speedway will be hosting two Friday evening practice sessions set for April 10 and April 17. Pit gates will open at 4 p.m. both nights with practice from 7-9 p.m.

Due to a forecast of unfavorable weather conditions, officials at the Springfield Raceway have decided to cancel the scheduled practice day for this Saturday, and have rescheduled for next Saturday, April 4.

The above average temperatures have allowed track workers to resume work on the newly constructed oval at the Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis. The frost is nearly out of the ground and more than 2,000 yards of new clay has been hauled in.
