The full-fendered USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars invaded the Highway 3 Raceway Thursday for Round 2 of the Dart Iron Man Challenge. Against a stout field of veteran stock car pilots, Mike Van Genderen looked like a super hero with a thrilling drive from last on the first lap of the main event to hoisting the winner’s trophy 19 laps later.

Ryan Gustin handily won his heat race, then drew the outside of the front row for the main event Wednesday night at the Southern Iowa Speedway. The 19-year-old from Marshalltown, Iowa, beat polesitter Ryan Ruter to the flagstand by a bumper to lead the first lap, but that proved to be as close as anybody would get.

After a nearly six-week hiatus, the stars and cars of the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour jump back into high gear for five straight nights of racing action at five dirt ovals during the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend. It all gets started this Wednesday, May 26, for the first race in the Farm Boy BBQ Sauce Central States Region presented by Arnold Motor Supply as the fearless lead-footed Modified pilots invade the Southern Iowa Speedway.

Jordan Nordstrom notched his first ever Huset’s Speedway triumph in USRA Sprint Car competion Sunday night. The USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mod winner was Kevin Joachim and Shaun Taylor checkered first in USRA Hobby Stock action.

For the first time this season, it felt like summer at the Dodge County Speedway. Seventy-eight racing machines signed in the back gate this week to tackle the historic fairgrounds oval.

Eighty degrees with a mid-afternoon sprinkle followed by what seemed like 100-mph winds all night long are not conducive to great racing conditions Saturday at the Deer Creek Speedway, but throughout the night's watering, misting and packing the track got consistent and smoother as the night wore on.
