KASSON, Minn. - Under glorious sun-drenched skies the Dodge County Speedway fired up for another night of American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series action. Eighty cars signed in the back gates and the crowd witnessed some excellent racing.

The USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods had the yellow come out before one lap was completed.

Dain Schultz took the early lead as Jason Schlangen gave chase. Schlangen took to the low side of the track and slipped by Schultz for the lead on lap two.

Brandon Hare was moving through the pack and got to fourth and then passed Kylie Kath for third on lap three. Another caution for debris slowed the race and closed the field up.

When the race resumed, Hare grabbed the second spot and then challenged Schlangen for the lead. Hare and Schlangen had a good race for three laps until Hare took over on lap eight.

Despite a couple more cautions, Hare went on to win his fourth win of the season at Kasson and again it was a clean sweep. Kylie Kath had his best run this season in second. Last week's winner Ben Moudry was third with Schlangen and Schultz in the top five.

A stellar field of twenty USRA RHS Modifieds lined up for their 25-lap feature and it was a good one.

Ben Mattick took off from the pole to lead lap one with Kelly Shryock and Ryan Schaeffer going at it for second. Shryock quickly took second and pulled even with Mattick for the lead. Steve Wetzstein was flying on the cushion in blew from seventh to third.

Shryock got the lead from Mattick, then Wetzstein dove to second on lap three and Jason Cummins was now fourth.

Schaeffer looped his car in turn four, and amazingly everyone missed him and out came the yellow.

As the green waved the leaders all got bunched up and it got wild from there. A big pack of cars blew into turn one, Wetzstein got just a little loose and stacked things even tighter. Josh Angst made an incredible move on the outside as he stormed from seventh to third in one corner. A yellow for debris on lap seven calmed things down a bit and everyone gathered their composure once again.

Shryock again led the field to the green as Angst quickly moved inside of Mattick and they touched slightly as Angst got by. That brought along Mike Sorensen and Cummins to third and fourth. Tim Donlinger was also making moves from the fifteen starting spot and was now in the top five.

It was a super race for third through fifth as Sorensen, Cummins and Donlinger were all in the mix swapping those positions. Angst was staying close to Shryock as the laps wound down. Josh Mattick slipped off the track in turn one on lap twenty-two setting up a three lap dash to the finish.

Shryock held on the final laps for the win with Angst in second. Donlinger completed his run from row eight in third with Cummins fourth and Sorensen fifth at the checkered flag.

Next week, Stevenson Insurance of Kasson will add an additional $200 to the winner of the USRA RHS Modified feature. Racing will get underway at 5 p.m. next Sunday, May 23. On Sunday, May 30, the USMTS Modifieds invade the Dodge County Speedway for their annual Memorial Day Weekend blockbuster.
