USRA Modifieds headline Public Safety Appreciation Night at Lucas Oil Speedway


All police, fire and rescue personnel will be be admitted free on Saturday night with ID as Lucas Oil Speedway pays tribute to those workers on Public Safety Appreciation Night.

TheUSRA Modifieds will be the featured division for Round 9 of the Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series, running a special 25-lap, $1,000-to-win main event. USRA Medieval USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods and Hermitage Lumber Late Models also will be in action.

In the USRA Modified division, Ryan Middaugh of Fulton looks to continue expanding his championship points lead after earning his second feature win last Saturday. Middaugh holds a 67-point command over two-time track champion Robbie Reed of Mexico entering this week's program. Middaugh also has surged to the top of the USRA National point standings.

Points leaders in the other classes also are starting to see separation as Urbana's Mason Beck has opened a 67-point lead over William Garner of Lebanon in the USRA Stock Cars. Bobby Williams of Hermitage continues to utilize consistency in the USRA B-Mods, with a 63-point cushion over Dayton Pursley.

Kids' Pit Tour: The Frogs Jr Fan Club Pit Tour, led by flagman Mike Striegel, is scheduled prior to each weekly dirt-track racing program this season, Striegel will lead the tour on a large golf cart for youngsters ages 5-12 with the youngsters signing up for a drawing each week to be a part of the tour.

Striegel will drive them through the pits and stop and visit with various drivers where the youngsters can see the race cars up close, take pictures and collect autographs.

Kids can sign up for the Frogs Jr Fan Club on the south end of the Midway after gates open at 5 p.m. for a chance to go on the pit tour.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. Saturday and grandstands at 5, with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05.

SRX tickets on sale: Some of racing's legends are coming to Lucas Oil Speedway for the Superstar Racing Experience (SRX). The August 17th SRX "Thursday Night Thunder" will be the finale of the six-race series and determine the 2023 champion. All SRX races will air live on ESPN.

Drivers announced for the Lucas Oil Speedway event include NASCAR Cup Series champions Tony Stewart, Brad Keselowski and Bobby Labonte, along with NASCAR drivers Kenny Wallace, Ryan Newman, Clint Bowyer and Hailie Deegan. Also on hand will be four-time Indy 500 winer Helio Castroneves, plus reigning SRX Champion Marco Andretti and Indy-car drivers Paul Tracy and Ryan Hunter-Reay.

The series will pit the drivers against one another in identically prepared cars with points accumulated in each of the six events. The championship chase will culminate at Lucas Oil Speedway.

Tickets for the SRX event are $35 in advance and $40 at the gate (ages 16 and over). Kids (ages 6-15) will be $20 with ages 5-and-under free. Advance tickets can now be purchased via Stubwire. Pit passes are $50 and must be purchased the day of the event.
