Mother Nature victorious on opening night at Fairmont

Low temperatures and oversaturated grounds leads to the cancellation of opening night of the 2024 season this Friday, May 3 at the Fairmont Raceway in Fairmont, Minn.

More than four inches of rain have fallen in the past week, leaving the infield and parking lot under water in areas and keeping staff from getting prep started.

"We were optimistic this morning for sunny skies and warm temperatures to get the grounds dried out," said promoter Zac Gerhardt. "This afternoon's shot of rain took away another evening of work, with low temps predicted at race time."

We will give it another go on Friday, May 17, for our inaugural Hobby Stock Scuffle. Pits and grandstands will open at 5:30 p.m.
