SPRING VALLEY, Minn. -- Deer Creek Speedway capped off the 2010 racing season on Saturday night at the Eagles Club in Rochester with their annual awards banquet.

The banquet was full with every seat taken for the night’s activities.

Drivers signed up for dozens of door prizes as they entered the banquet hall as sponsors again pulled out the stops and gave away a huge amount of prizes.

More than 365 meals were served as the crowd gathered to watch the class highlight slideshows put together by Justin Queensland.

As each class slideshow was played, the second- through tenth-place drivers arrived on stage to receive their track points funds and trophies.

The USRA RHS Modifieds saw Jason Cummins take home his second straight track title with 14 top five finishes on the season.

Cummins was also crowned the 2010 American Racer USRA Weekly Series National Champion for the division.

Josh Angst, Mike Sorensen, Todd Scharkey and A.J. Wiste rounded out the top five in the track points race.

Darrin Walch of Postville, Iowa, made the haul up to ‘The Creek’ for most of the events and took home the Most Improved Driver honors for the USRA RHS Modified division.

Brandon Hare took home the American Racer USRA Weekly Series National Championship and Deer Creek Speedway track title in the USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mod division.

Hare finished the season with 7 wins on his way to the titles, finishing ahead of Kylie Kath, Colter Duetsch, Jacob Bleess and Parker Hale.

In the first season at the Deer Creek Speedway, the USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods put on a competitive show with great car counts as this value class grabbed a foothold in the area.

Jacob Bleess took home the Most Improved Driver Award as the young driver steadily improved each week.

The Rookie of the Year Award went to 15-year-old Lucas Schott, who moved up from the Slingshots to the full-blown USRA RHS Modifieds in 2010.

Schott looked impressive and caught the eye of many national competitors, making several USMTS main events.

The Sportsmanship Award for 2010 was presented to USRA RHS Modified driver Joel Alberts.

Deer Creek Speedway will begin selling its advance tickets for the 2011 racing season on Wednesday, Dec. 1.

The schedule includes all of the favorite shows from 2010, along with a new $20,000-to-win World Modified Dirt Track Championship set for Wednesday-Saturday, April 6-9.
