USMTS to stop in Iowa and Missouri, April 25-26

DONNELLSON, Iowa (April 15, 2003) - The United States Modified Touring Series will continue with two stops next weekend at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA and Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, MO on Friday and Saturday April 25th and 26th. The USMTS visited the Lee County Speedway in 2002 and local favorite Tony Fraise picked up his first ever USMTS win.

The USMTS also visited to Scotland County Speedway and Scott Megonigle picked up both wins at the speedway. The race at Donnellson will be a north region race, while the race at Memphis, MO will be a south region race. Both races will pay $2000 to win and $200 to start the Midwest Motorsports A-main.

A good field of cars is expected for these events with drivers from more than nine states expected. Series point leade Justin Boney along with Tommy Myer, Scott Drake, Jason Hughes, Kelly Shryock, Mark Noble, Darin Walker, Dan Chapman, Mike Chasteen, Kevin Peters, Johnny Bone, Corey Dripps, Mike Wedelstadt, Darin Walker, Dan Daniels, John Vandenberg plus all the local favorites. Gates will open at 5:30 on Friday with hot laps scheduled for 7pm and racing at 7:30. Saturday gates will open at 5pm with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7pm. Also running on Friday will be the Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks, and Wild Things.

So far in 2003 the USMTS has raced eight nights and seven different drivers have visited victory lane. Scott Drake is the only driver that has won two nights of racing.
