Hart heats up in Sprint Invaders go at Scotland County Speedway

MEMPHIS, Mo. (Sept. 1, 2002) - The CARQUEST Auto Parts Sprint Invaders made their second appearance of the season at Scotland County Speedway with a great field of 24 cars. It looked like Jeff Nehring was headed for his second Series win in as many races, when he grabbed the pole in the feature following the Storm Steel Shake-Up, but lapped traffic cost him and Ryan Jamison the top two spots, putting Kurt Davis and Tyson Hart in a heated battle for the lead. Davis rode the low side and Hart rode the top line while John Schulz followed in the third spot. While the crowd roared, Hart managed to pull ahead of Davis for the win. Chris Urish and Bobby Mincer took the fourth and fifth spots. Jamison would rally from the back of the pack to finish 9th, while Nehring would come back and take 11th.

John Schulz, driving the Rich DeReu owned #50 car, won the 1st heat race followed by Matt Sutton, in the Grit Motorsports #3 car. Bobby Mincer, in his #15, car won the second heat race with Ryan Jamison in the 51J taking second. Jeff Nehring in the #9 took the 3rd heat race with Hart in his 5H machine, was second. That set the field for the Storm Steel Fast Car Shake-Up Dash. Schulz took the dash win and drew the #3 following the dash to put him on the inside of row 2 in the feature, giving Nehring, who finished 5th, the pole and Hart the outside of the front row.

The $50 Hard Charger Award went to Randy Plath in the #14 Plath Motorsports car, after running up front in the second heat, Plath would spin and not take the checkered flag in the second heat positioning him on the outside of row 10 in the feature. He would pass the most cars of the night to finish 10th. The $50 Mystery Spot went to the Deuce Motorsports #2 car piloted by Bart Schneiderman who finished in the 13th spot. The Mystery Spot is picked at random from numbers 2-20 before the start of the feature.

The Sprint Invaders will have their inaugural Season Championship Race at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA on Saturday, September 28.
