WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (July 23, 2001) - The United States Modified Touring Series will continue next week with the Darrell Vice Benefit Super Modified Week starting Tuesday, July 31, at the Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, IL.

The USMTS will have five straight nights of racing at five different tracks.

Darrell Vice a twelve-year old boy from Oquawka, IL was tortured when burglars broke into his home and stabbed his father more than sixty times. They had tied Darrell to his father before all of this had happened and also stabbed Darrell in the spinal cord paralyzing Darrell from the waist down. They also stabbed Darrell’s right hand numerous times. Darrell will be on hand with the USMTS at two of these races next week.

The racing will begin Tuesday, July 31, at the Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, IL then will move to the Knox County Fair in Knoxville, IL where Darrell will be on hand. Then on Thursday the series will move to the Aledo Raceway in Aledo, IL.

On Friday the series will make its second appearance to the Quincy Raceway in Quincy, IL. In the first visit to Quincy in 2001 Henry Delonjay, Mike Karhoff, and Mark Burgtorf showed that the Quincy drivers are something to be reckoned with as these three drivers finished 1-2-3.

The last night of racing will be the first ever appearance for the USMTS to the Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, MO this race will be on Saturday night August 4th.

All races will pay $2,000 to win and $200 to start. All drivers that fail to qualify will get $75 tow money.

USMTS will be doing this benefit for Darrell and be giving Darrell money from sponsorships, $2 from every adult that enters the grandstands, $5 from each t-shirt sold, % of 50/50 money, and will also give Darrell $5 from every car in the pit area. USMTS is hoping to generate more than $10,000 for these five days of racing. Darrell had no insurance and the USMTS knows that the racing world is some of the greatest fans in the world and will help this young boy out by supporting one of these races. Darrell will also be on hand at the Aledo Raceway on Thursday night.

A special autograph session from 5-6 pm each night will be held at the tracks. USMTS will be giving away a bicycle each night to some lucky boy or girl in the grandstands. A very good field of cars is expected for these races.
