Bryan Mize Hangover fills Sunday slot at Rocket Raceway Park
The event slated for Sunday at the RPM Speedway was canceled due to too much rain during the week, so officials at the Rocket Raceway Park in Petty, Texas, have added a second show on Sunday, Sept. 4, to follow Saturday night's 8th Annual Bryan Mize Memorial.
The inaugural Bryan Mize Hangover will happen Sunday, just a few hours after the checkers wave to wrap up the Bryan Mize Memorial on Saturday night, and pays $2,000 to win the USRA Modified feature race. With $8,000 up for grabs Saturday, that means one racer with enough talent and luck could exit RRP with a cool $10,000 for two days of work this Labor Day Weekend.
On both nights,, grandstands open for general admission seating at 5. After the drivers meeting at 6:30, competitors will take to the 3/8-mile of clay at 7 for some hot laps and then racing action gets underway right after our country’s National Anthem. The pits will open at 2 on Saturday and then 4 on Sunday.
Along with the top Outlaw Modified warriors in the southern half of America, USRA Limited Mods and Sunoco USRA Factory Stocks will race for $1,000 to win Saturday and $750 to win on Sunday. Buckmeyer Motorsports Eco-Mods are going for $750 to win on Saturday while Sunday's winner gets $400.
Presented by Walker, Warren & Jordan Surveying & Mapping, ABEL Truck & Trailer Sales and Pinnacle Roofing & Construction, the 8th Annual Bryan Mize Memorial on Saturday will feature the USRA American Racer Modified Series presented by Day Motor Sports.
A whopping $8.,000 payday awaits the winner of this year’s colossol contest and every racer that takes the green flag in the main event will pocket no less than $400.
While the ARMS aces will compete for series points on Saturday, expect most of them (and probably a few more) to be on hand Sunday as USRA Modifieds, USRA Limited Mods and Sunoco USRA Factory Stocks will be battling for Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national points both nights too.
With six top-five finishes in six attempts, Chris Henigan of Marshall remains atop the ARMS points standings and leads Big Daddy Joe Duvall by 53 points (581 to 528) as they dance into 'The Rocket.' Defending series champ Dycus sits third with 501 markers followed by Manuel Williams II (439), Kenny Gaddis (424), Tommy Cannon (418), Chris Dawson (411), Sean Gaddis (386), Jason Sartain (350) and Jeremy LaCoe (329).
Others expected this weekend include Manuel and Mason Williams, James McCreery, Tyler Townsend, Casey Roderick, Michael Walker, Casey Fowler, Chase Allen, Chase Holland and many more including three-time defending Mize Memorial winner Clyde Dunn Jr.
An exciting 2022 season under the direction of Kevin Rogers and Kevin Sustaire will wrap up with a titanic tripleheader beginning Saturday, Sept. 17, with the 2nd Annual Cowboy Up Classic, and one month later the 7th Annual SmackDown takes place Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21-22.
The high-powered American Racer Modified Series returns for the series finale on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4-5, as the palace of power in Petty hosts the inaugural ARMS Nationals and the crowning of its second champion.
The Rocket Raceway Park holds 3,400 spectators and its elevated grandstands offer superb viewing from any seat. The venue can be found in Lamar County—about 15 minutes west of Paris and 25 minutes east of Bonham. The physical location is 16369 US-82, Petty, TX 75470.
