Electric City Speedway roars to life Friday

In less than 24 hours the Electric City Speedway is going to roar to life once again. The summer Friday night lights will be bright and the roar of engines will fill the air at the former Old 71 Speedway.

Gates open at 5 p.m. and draw cutoff 7:20. Hot laps start at 7:45 with racing to follow.

General admission is $10 for those ages 13 and older, $5 for ages 6-12 and kids 5 and under are free. Pit passes will be for sale through the main gate as well. This will help with families that ride with their driver to the track and also help keep the lines moving.

The tailgate area will be open with a $25-per-car charge above general admission price. Bring your coolers, your grills or whatever you would like. The only exception is no hard alcohol. Bring beer, soda, water, whatever else you’d like but no hard stuff. We reserve the right to check coolers upon entry.

Pit passes are free for drivers with pit pass coming out at the end of the night. Pit passes for ages 13 and up is $35, ages 6-12 are $15 and kids 5 and under are free.

Medieval USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods will headline the show with Super Stocks, Midwest Mods, Pure Stocks and FWD Tuners also in action.

Driver sign-in and payouts will be in the south window of the tower. Drivers need to have $5 for transponder rental (if you have your own you will need to bring it with you for the number to be entered in our system), your drivers license (or an adult with one is you’re under 16) and your USRA license if running Stock Cars or B-Mods. If you’re running either of those classes and not licensed you’ll need to bring $10 for your temp license.

We decided to move drivers check in to speed up the process at the gate to get everyone in quicker. Plus, at the end of the night you come back to the same window to return your transponder and pick up your money.

The main center section of the pit area is our reserved preferred parking. These are paid spots for $100 each. There are 14 of these already paid for. There is non-reserved parking as well that’s first come first serve. If you’re interested in a spot let us know and we’ll fix you up.

"Please be patient with us as we’re still a work in progress," said promoter Gary Clark. "We will continue to improve and grow as we’ve promised."
