Another Hot City Nights promotion of the season at the Vado Speedway Park was hotly contested on Saturday, April 9, with Bryan Bennett, Michael Hartman, Fito Gallardo and Devan Smith also topped their respective feature races during the racing program.

The Medieval USRA Stock Car main event saw Kenny McCoy and Devon Jobin on the front row.

McCoy got the jump on the start and took his No. 51 into the lead but Jobin, in his newly purchased Stock Car, came roaring back and overtook McCoy for the lead as the field worked down the backstretch.

Meanwhile, ninth-starting Bryan Bennett and 12th-starting Rob Moseley were on the charge forward with Bennett using the extreme bottom of the speedway to his advantage and picking off competitors left and right on his way forward.

Moseley was in Bennett’s wheel tracks around the speedway but Bennett was just too strong as he wrestled the lead away and drove off for his second straight Medieval USRA Stock Car victory.

Moseley crossed the line in second with Josh Reynolds third.

Up next was the 25-lap feature for the Rancho Milagro USRA Modifieds with a pair of veterans—Jimmy Ray and Christy Barnett—on row one.

Ray got the better start and took off into the top spot on the opening lap, but third-starting Fito Gallardo blasted by on the inside of turn two on the second circuit to claim the top spot, which he would never relinquish.

While Gallardo ran alone out front, a tremendous battle was ensuing behind him between Ray, Bumper Jones, Royal Jones, Carlos Ahumada Jr. and Tom Georges while Jake Gallardo was working his way forward from his 14th starting spot.

The event was plagued by a number of caution periods, which kept the field close to the No. G17 out front, but on each restart, Fito Gallardo was able to pull back away, while Jake Gallardo and Bumper Jones began an intense battle for second as the laps wound down.

Fito Gallardo raced off with the win with Jake Gallardo second, Bumper Jones third, Ray fourth and Nick Rivera, from 20th, crossing the line in fifth.

The Vado Speedway Park will be back in action this coming Saturday, April 16, with our annual Egggstravaganza Easter Celebration, which will feature an appearance by the Easter Bunny from 5-7 p.m. and a huge Easter Egg Hunt for the kids at 6. Gates open at 5 and racing begins at 7:30.

For fans not able to attend in person, all events held during the 2022 season at the Vado Speedway Park will also be live at WatchFYE.tv.
