Season Championships set for Saturday night at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The season-long points championship chase for the 2009 track titles will come to a halt Saturday night, Sept. 5, at the quick quarter-mile of the Springfield Raceway.

The racing action will feature the USRA Modifieds, Bombers, Legends Cars and SportMods, along with a special apperance by the Pro-4 Late Models.

In the USRA Modifieds, it has boiled down to a battle between defending track champion Jackie Dalton of Carthage and Mitch Keeter of Webb City as Dalton enters the night with a one-point lead when the green flag drops on the feature event.

Running this season under the USRA banner, Dalton was fast out of the gate with three straight wins to start the season while Keeter recorded two seconds and a fifth-place finish.

Since then, Dalton has recorded one more victory and two runner-up spots while having two finishes outside the top-10. Keeter has yet to finish outside the top-10 but is winless this season.

Grandstand gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 6:45 and racing at 7:30.
