Whitworth wins first USRA Modified feature at Humboldt
HUMBOLDT, Kan. - Ryan Whitworth has won his fair share of Modified features over the past few years, all in places other than his actual "home" track (he actually lives on the grounds), Humboldt Speedway.
Finally, the elusive win at 'The Hummer' has come.
Whitworth led a barnburner of a USRA Modified feature wire to wire Friday night. This was no "gimmie" win, either. At several points while Whitworth was wheeling his Ford like there was no tomorrow, no less than six other cars were in contention for the lead.
Finally, Whitworth gained some breathing room while Justin "Whitey" Folk wrestled his way into the runner-up spot. Scott Daniels drove hard, but wound up third, with Jess Folk Jr. and Dan Daniels rounding out the top-5.
