Springfield Raceway springs back into action Saturday night
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Racing action swings back into high gear Saturday night, Aug. 1, at the quick quarter-mile Springfield Raceway with the points chase tight. A late afternoon rain forced cancellation of last week's events, so the action should be even more exciting.
Competing Saturday night will be the high-horsepower of the USRA Modifieds as defending track champion and current points leader Jackie Dalton tries to get back into the winner's circle.
Lately, Erik Maggard of Springfield seems to have the hot set-up, while Webb City hard charger Mitch Keeter is always in the hunt and looking for his first win of the season while riding second in points.
Gates open at 5 p.m. in the grandstands while pit gates open at 4. The drivers meeting will be at 6:30 with hot laps at 6:45 and racing at 7:30 sharp.
Adult admission is only $10 in the grandstands with kids ages 6-12 $5 and children under 6 free.
This Saturday night will also feature the popular spectator drags.
The Springfield Raceway is preparing to host one of the races in the USMTS Hunt for the Chapionship on Thursday night, Aug. 13. SportMods and Legends Cars will also be racing that night.
