Mother Nature spoils American Racer USRA Modified Series doubleheader
It seems that Mother Nature is working overtime in 2021 to one-up the damage done in 2020 by COVID-19. She struck again today, forcing the RPM Speedway and Big O Speedway to pull the plug on this weekend’s doubleheader for the American Racer USRA Modified Series presented by Day Motor Sports.
Officials from the USRA are working with the staff at both North Texas facilities to find suitable dates to reschedule the pair of $2,000-to-win touring outlaw modified shows.
With just one race in the books for the inaugural season for the American Racer USRA Modified Series, the next scheduled dates are Friday and Saturday, May 21-22, with visits to Louisiana clay ovals at the Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian and Dirt On The Rev (Revolution Park) in Monroe.
Both blockbuster events will pay $2,000 to the main event winner each night with at least $200 going into the pockets of every driver qualifying for the feature race.
USRA Modified racers will be able to compete for several individual points funds. In addition to series points, competitors will earn Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national and regional points. Sanctioned racetracks may also award 2021 track points. At season’s end, the inaugural American Racer USRA Modified Series points champion will pocket no less than $4,000 of the nearly $20,000 points fund.
