Mitch Hovden won the Holley USRA Stock Car feature.

Two winner’s checks were handed out at the Iron Man Challenge event Saturday night at the Deer Creek Speedway, and both are headed to the Hovden residence in Decorah, Iowa.

Four-time Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series national champion and twice an Iron Man champ, Mitch Hovden held off defending Iron Man titlist Derek Green to take home the Holley USRA Stock Car main event victory while his brother, Dan Hovden, scored the victory in the Out-Pace USRA B-Mods.

Coming off of a win the previous night at the Fayette County Speedway in West Union, Iowa, fellow Decorah driver Kyle Falck grabbed the lead at the start of the Holley USRA Stock Car 20-lap main event with Hovden sneaking by to lead lap 8.

Falck—the 2016 Iron Man Challenge champion in the full-fendered division—fought back to regain the lead and beat Hovden to the stripe on the ninth and tenth laps, but Hovden was too hot to handle and reclaimed the top spot just past the halfway mark.

Leading the final ten laps, Mitch Hovden pocketed $750 in recording his third Iron Man Challenge victory of the season while Green, who started eighth, charged to the front but had to settle for the runner-up finish by a car length.

Brett Heeter continued his strong week with a third-place finish while Dean Cornelius and three-time Out-Pace USRA B-Mod national champion Matt Jones claimed fourth and fifth.

Falck held on for sixth with Kevin Donlan, Donovan Nunnikhoven, Brayden Gjere and Steve Jackson rounding out the top ten.

In Out-Pace USRA B-Mod action, Dan Hovden also had to fight for the $650 winner’s share of the prize money but was able to lead all 20 laps while surviving four yellow flags en route to the victory over co-track champion Jim Chisholm, Andrew Schroeder and the other co-track champion Kylie Kath.

Jerry Young was the final driver to finish inside the top five while Ben Moudry, Trevor Fecht, Dustin Kruse, Brandon Hare and Jeremiah Christensen filled out the rest of the positions in the top ten.

Dan Hovden won the Out-Pace USRA B-Mod feature.

Due to heavy rain late Saturday night and Sunday morning, Sunday’s event at the Cresco Speedway was canceled, so up next is the 20th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-22, back at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn.

Out-Pace USRA B-Mods will share the spotlight with USRA Modifieds at the Featherlite Fall Jamboree and both the Holley USRA Stock Cars and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods will wrap up the Iron Man Challenge during the 5th Annual Summit Racing Equipment USRA Nationals at the I-35 Speedway in Winston, Mo., on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 4-6.
