This Saturday, Aug. 11, is Racer Appreciation Night at the Hamilton County Speedway presented by Spangler Automotive, and not only can competitors win a lot of awesome prizes but fans holding a get-in-free ticket from one of the drivers pay nothing to enjoy the show they put on for them.

The on-track action will feature the Malvern Bank Super Late Models, USRA Modifieds, Holley USRA Stock Cars, Out-Pace USRA B-Mods, Cook Racing Supplies USRA Hobby Stocks and USRA Tuners.

Gates will open a little earlier and we are expecting a very big crowd with drivers handing out as many free tickets as possible, trying to win everything from a new drivers suit that will be given out to the driver that brings the most fans, to helmets, ties, wheels and more.

We will open up the side hill behind the announcer's stand for fans to set up blankets and chairs, so come prepared. Track managers will also have three booths set up to help the overflow of concessions, including beer sales on both sides of the beer stand as well as selling water, pop and other items at that spot. We will have a nachos and a walking taco stand, pop, popcorn and a candy stand, plus another beer stand all located on the northeast side of the restrooms.

Make your plans now to attend what could possibly be the biggest race in the history of the Hamilton County Speedway, and help your favorite driver win one of the many prizes that will be handed out this Saturday night.

Mike and Kathy Baker from Baker Trucking, along with Jeff and Penny Havlik with Havlik Trucking will be picking up the cost of USRA temp licenses for those racers that do not have a USRA license, plus the class that brings the most cars will be racing for $1,000 to win courtesy of Baker Trucking and Havlik Trucking. If we have two classes that tie for the highest car count, the Hamilton County Speedway will match the deal and pay $1,000 to win both classes.

Malvern Bank Super Late Models will pay $700 to win and $130 to start, USRA Modifieds pay $600 to win and $110 to start, Holley USRA Stock Cars pay $600 and $90 to start, Out-Pace USRA B-Mods get $500 to win and $90 to start, Cook Racing Supplies USRA Hobby Stocks earn $400 to win and $80 to start, and USRA Tuners race for $200 if ten or more cars are in attendance.

We are giving away a drivers suit for the most tickets returned. Other prizes include an $880 carbon fiber Simpson helmet, four wheels and four American Racer tires courtesy of Real Racing Wheels, a new driveshaft from Fast Shafts, racing gloves and racing shoes courtesy of Simpson and more.

Will also be doing the treasure hunt in the grandstands, so bring some strange and wacky stuff in your pockets.

Gates open at 4:30 p.m., the drivers meeting is at 6:50, hot laps begin at 7:10 and racing gets underway at 7:30 p.m.

Without a get-in-free ticket from a driver, spectator admission is $12 for adults, juniors ages 12-16 are $8 and kids ages 11 and under are free. Family Packs get two (2) adults and two (2) juniors in for $32—a savings of $8. Pit passes are regularly priced at $30 each or $20 for youth ages 6-10. Pit passes are free for kids ages 5 and under.

The Hamilton County Speedway driven by Spangler Automotive is located off of US 20 at exit 140, then 1.2 miles north, then 0.5 mile east on Bank St., then 0.4 mile south on Bluff St. in Webster City, Iowa (1200 Bluff St, Webster City, IA 50595) at the historic Hamilton County Fairgrounds.

Opening in July 1910, the Hamilton County Speedway is the oldest speedway in the state of Iowa. In 1938, work began on the current location at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds. The semi-banked half-mile dirt track was completed in the spring of 1939, and the first races were held on the track in September of that year.
