Our good friends at Midwest Coatings, Inc., are set to host racing Saturday night at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) as drivers compete in five classes, including USRA Modifieds, Out-Pace USRA B-Mods, Street Stocks, Midwest Mod-Lites and Pure Stocks.

Threatening skies nearly ruined last week’s action but the CMS staff kept things moving and drivers got up on the wheel, providing the dedicated fans with another weekend of exciting action on a smooth, racy, and well-prepared track by the track crew despite having limited time to prepare for racing after two inches of rain fell well into the early a.m. hours.

Our business partners at Midwest Coatings are proud of their family owned business located in St. Louis, which has been in business for over 20 years. Midwest Coatings is a water-based inks manufacturer and supplier specializing in All WWA Pinnacle System Water-Based Inks and Paper Plate Coatings. The company is a proud business partner of Aspen Products in Kansas City, Missouri.

When drivers and fans converge on CMS Saturday, drivers will compete in preliminary heat races and main events as the championship season rolls on. In USRA Modified action, Jim Moody of Odessa continues to lead the way. Last Saturday, in another ‘Mighty Modified’ showdown, Moody finished runner-up to Sedalia driver Terry Schultz, who claimed his 61st career CMS win. Moody leads Schultz in the point standings with Basehor, Kansas driver Tim Karrick looming in third. Dalton Kirk and Kevin Blackburn hold down fourth and fifth.

Jake Richards of Lansing, Kan., has quickly established himself as the man to beat when it comes to feature events for USRA B-Mods after taking win number four last week. However, it’s defending champion Jacob Ebert who finds himself at the top of the standings heading into this weekend’s action. Cody Frazon of LaMonte kept his strong early season finishes going last week to keep himself in the championship hunt and holds down the second position entering this weekend. Richards, Cody Brill and Michael Bixby round out the top five.

Although it seems too early to think about fall racing, October will be here before a blink of an eye and this year CMS has one additional huge event planned for Friday, October 20th and Saturday, October 21st for the first annual ‘Triple SSS at CMS’ Street Stock Showdown. Drivers will gun for a $5,000 payday on the hollowed grounds of CMS over this two-day event. USRA B-Mods are also part of the program each night. You can find all you need to know for the Triple SSS weekend on the CMS website under the heading of Street Stock Showdown Headquarters at www.centralmissourispeedway.net.
