Unseasonably cool temperatures greeted everyone who turned out Friday evening at North Central Arkansas Speedway, including members of the Innovative Readiness Training team who have been working throughout the community this past week. The normal race program was augmented by the make-up feature races from May 19 after that program was ended early due to severe storms and tornadic activity in the area.

John Briggs and Blake Horton occupied the front row of the first Out-Pace USRA B-Mod feature race and Horton topped the score sheet after the first trip round the track, followed closely by John Briggs and Snodgrass. Briggs moved past Horton to claim the lap three lead, and Snodgrass got past Horton for second place two laps later. After racing door-to-door for three circuits, Snodgrass was able to ride the upper groove to the lead as Briggs began to search for a faster line around the speedway. As the last laps were recorded Briggs closed on Snodgrass, getting back into the lead as the white flag was displayed. A two-wide battle on the last lap saw the top two cars alongside each other exiting turn four with Briggs taking the win by mere inches over Snodgrass.

The second Out-Pace USRA B-Mod feature race of the night went green with Steve Muilenburg holding the pole and Jason Snodgrass to his right side. John Briggs made it a tight three-car race for the lead exiting turn two as the bottom groove proved to be the fastest way around the speedway. Chad Horton followed Muilenburg and Briggs around the bottom to hold third at the end of lap one with an up-close view of the race for the lead as Briggs slipped past Muilenburg for the lead on lap four. A midrace restart allowed Muilenburg to top the scorecard on lap 10, but Briggs was able to hold his car just a little lower on the racing surface and reclaimed the top spot on lap eleven. As the final laps were logged Briggs was able to hold off Muilenburg to take his second feature win of the evening.

Racing action continues this Friday night June 16th. North Central Arkansas Speedway is located between Yellville and Flippin on Hwy. 62-412. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and those with a military ID, $5 for those ages 7 through 15 with 6 and under getting in free.
