Smokin’ Trackside BBQ Bash set for Aug. 11-12
In 2016, the I-35 Speedway began a new venture tying together BBQ with circle track racing. The aromas of the racetrack changed from the normal smell of racing fuel to a new aroma of brisket, ribs and pork cooking in the smokers of the various Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) competitors.
The event was super successful and once again the date is rapidly approaching for the second version of the Smokin’ Trackside BBQ Bash. This year the Smokin’ Trackside BBQ Bash will be Aug. 11-12, again in the grass parking lots of I-35 Speedway located at exit 64 off Interstate 35.
If you are a team looking to qualify for an automatic entry in the Jack Daniel’s World Championship and the American Royal Invitational, this is the event for you. Our request has been submitted to the Governor of Missouri for a proclamation to make this a state qualifying event. Last year’s Grand Champion, Smoking Hills, have already submitted their entry to defend their title.
Now is the time to sign up for this event. Visit our website at i-35speedway.net or we also have a Facebook page, Smoking Trackside BBQ Bash at I-35 Speedway. Come compete in the BBQ competition by day and enjoy the fast racing action put on by the USRA Modifieds, Out-Pace USRA B-Mods and Holley USRA Stock Cars plus Grand Nationals, Pure Stocks and E Mods at the track on Saturday evening.
Friday will once again be a time for preparation and then relaxation. Like last year, we will have entertainment and a People’s Choice contest that evening at the Trackside Bar & Grill. The public are more than welcome to come enjoy the festivities.
Racing, BBQ and brew... what could be more American? Make your plans to be a part of this event.
