Deer Creek Speedway set for 21st season opener
SPRING VALLEY, Minn.—Even the cold early spring weather cannot dampen the spirits and enthusiasm of area race fans and teams as they get set to embark on another exciting racing season.
The Deer Creek Speedway located in Spring Valley, Minn., will host their 21st season opener on Saturday, April 23, with five classes of cars in action.
Looking back at previous opening night heroics, the “Medford Monster” Brandon Davis has made opening night his playground in recent years. Davis has won the USRA Modified lid-lifter in 2015, 2014 and in 2011.
Looking ahead to the 2016 season, Davis has his eyes set on the all-time feature win leader Bob Timm’s win total of 51. Davis is fifth all time with 46 wins.
The Out-Pace USRA B-Mod division made its debut at “The Creek” in 2010. There has yet to be a repeat winner on opening night.
Tyler Johnson, Brandon Hare, Scott Demmer, Troy Hovey, Cole Queensland and Kylie Kath have all posed in the Bobcat of Rochester Victory Lane. This division once again looks to have big car counts and great racing for the upcoming season.
With Mother Nature’s approval the season will open on the 23rd. Pit gates will open at 3 p.m., grandstands at 4 and the first green flag will fly at 6.
The Deer Creek Speedway is located just 25 minutes south of Rochester on Highway 63, just south of Racine. Keep an eye on www.deercreekspeedway.com for further updates. Also like our Facebook page, follow us on Twitter (@DeerCreekSpeed) or view some previous season’s action on our YouTube channel.
