Matt Jones topped a 32-car field of USRA B-Mods to garner his first Iron Man Challenge checkers of the 2014 campaign.

DECORAH, Iowa—Fifty-two USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods invaded the Upper Iowa Speedway on Thursday, July 3, for the Iron Man Independence Day Challenge.

In USRA Stock Car action, a wild main event got even wilder after the dust had settled when the race winner, Dillon Anderson. was disqualified in post-race tech for an unapproved carburetor.

This moved Decorah's Kyle Falck up to the first spot and put his name on the $750 winner's check.

Iron Man points leader Tom Schmitt inherited the runner-up position, with Lynn Panos, Steve Jackson and Derek Dettmann rounding out the top five finishers.

Waukon's Matt Jones topped a 32-car field of USRA B-Mods to garner his first Iron Man Challenge checkers of the 2014 campaign.

The three-time USRA B-Mod national champion held off 12th-starting Brian Mahlstedt for the $600 top prize while Jason Schlangen, Jeremy Schaufenbuel and Dan Hovden finished third through fifth, respectively.

The USRA Hobby Stock feature saw Benji Irvine of Cedar Falls score a dominating win over Steve Holthaus, Scott Spilde, Nathan Lerch and Joshua Ludeking.

The Iron Man Challenge will be back in action on Thursday and Friday, July 24-25, as part of the 4th Annual World Modified Dirt Track Championship at the Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn.

USRA Stock Cars will compete on Thursday and USRA B-Mods take center stage on Friday.
